The Spirits of Paragon
After the official "end" of the Release Your Spirit Plot, there was no conclusion for sealing back up the leaks in the Elysian Realm or the Infernum, which had allowed spirits to rise to the surface of Paragon. Now there is the possibility of spirits, both evil and benevolent, leaking onto the material realm. For some, this could be a blessing, or at the very least, a mere nuisance, for others, however, this can be seriously dangerous. Some spirits wish to possess wolves, to try and cause them harm, and thus now, Shaman and Spiorad are more important than ever!
The Shaman will see the spirits, even communicate with the spirits to understand what they want. They will see their "true form" even if the spirit is possessing a wolf's material body. They also can make mental contact with the spirits, being able to use their minds to attempt to "push" or "coerce" the spirit back into Elysia or Infernum if necessary, though this does not destroy the spirit permanently and it can come back. Some Shaman even attempt to converse with spirits to learn more about certain events that have happened in the past, gaining perhaps get a vision of what has transpired or a general thought or idea.
A Spiorad, in general, all possess the same abilities pertaining to spirits as any Shaman of another pack. This is due to the fact that the element of the Spiorad is in fact spirit. However, unlike a "normal" Shaman, ALL Spiorad possess a charm that allows the dispatchment of spirits, which destroys their essence for good!
Shaman Spiorad will be able to all of the above, with complete and full understanding of the spirits, plus more, being much more proficient in the ways of the spirit than any other Shaman. Shaman Spiorad can summon their own spirit guides or spirit allies to act as aid in destroying an ill spirit, or simply as a boon companion of knowledge, and they are the most adept at the dispatchment charm, able to destroy even the most powerful spirit! However, for that they pay a price, each Spiorad Shaman has a sworn duty to hunt down any and all rogue spirits and dispatch them from the material world so that they do not harm the living among it. The Spiorad Luminary also possesses this power, and is by far the most adept at both spiritual communication and destruction if needed.
Other Spirit Guidelines for Non-Shaman and Non-Spiorad:
Communication: Spirits may attempt to speak to an untrained wolf, however, said wolf will hear nothing but garbled whispers on the wind, perhaps even thinking themselves crazed or sleep deprived! They may imagine they are having a conversation, but this conversation may not be happening.
Visualization: The untrained eye will see mist perhaps, or a shadow out of the corner of their vision, or even perhaps think it's an inanimate object doing whatever is going on. The mind may try to fill in the gaps by creating a "ghost" that the wolf sees, but it is not the spirit's true form, only a trick of the wolf's own mind!
Contact: Untrained wolves are unable to make any sort of contact with the spirits.
Possession: Spirits *can* and will possess wolves! However, they don't get any special qualities when in a wolf's body, and cannot use their charms unless it is a spirit of the same element the wolf is! When they do this, they kick the wolf's spirit *out* of the body, and it will remain out until a Spiorad can banish the spirit once and for all! At the point where a wolf is possessed, the spirit is in charge, but can only use any powers and abilities half as well as the original wolf could.
Powers: A spirit that is disembodied can only "move" up to one pounds' worth of material or cause small noises, make a wind where there was none, but that is all.
Role-Playing: A spirit can be role-played by whomever; however make sure it is realistic. You might role-play that there is a spirit in your thread, however, your own wolf, unless they are Shaman or Spiorad, would not *really* be able to interact with said spirit, the spirit might just be taunting said wolf with noises and throwing small objects. ;) So in role-play there will need to be a clear distinction between what the spirit is doing and what the wolf is doing.
Remember; as Alphas are the paradigm of their elements; they can see and communicate with some spirits, but not to as great of a level as Shaman. However, not all Alphas will be understanding of how this works, dependent upon their level of interaction with the spirits to start with.
Reminder: Once a spirit is banished, it is gone forever! Banishing a spirit takes it to a permanent place of rest, and inhibits it from returning to any other worlds. In effect, it locks it up and tosses out the key. Please remember that when posting!
