Pack Base: The Pearly Cliffs make up these wolves' home, and a glowing, rune-enchanted orb that floats seemingly mid-air in their packland's center seems to be their foci, having both the qualities of air and fire. At the current, a wolfess named Sweet Thyme runs the pack.
Celestial & History:
Image by Tabatha! | The Lesser Celestial of Storms has been known by many names ever since Paragon's creation. To the wolves, it is called Toirniuil; across the ocean, unbeknownst to the wolves, it is sometimes named Thunderbird. This Celestial embodies Chaos and seems to shift forms to match the territories he visits. One moment, a wolf; the next, a bird of prey. Toirniuil wears many guises; its personality is mercurial, likewise shifting depending on mood or time of day. The only consistent factor of this Celestial is it seems attached to these storms and has an interest in the wolves of Paragon. The focal point of their packlands, the Pearly Cliffs, the pinnacle upon which the chaos of the seas can be viewed as well as the chaos of the everchanging winds; is a great lightning orb that harnesses the power of storms.
The wolves of lightning's history is a bit convoluted. Around 45 AE, the wolves of lightning were banished from their packlands, being scattered to the four winds, as they lost their Celestial's favor. Some were sent to exile on lands that they could not explore, for danger lurked around every turn, some to far corners of Paragon's own lands, where they were left lost and confused. For all of these wolves had retained their colorations, charms and abilities, but with no Celestial to guide them, it was a harsh existence. It was only in 50AE (Mid-Moon, Dorcha 50AE - OOC time January 2008), five years later, that four of them found Paragon again and managed to reform the elemental focus of lightning on the Pearly Cliffs, thus reforming the pack. There are still new wolves of lightning that appear now and then, however, as some of the pack are taking their sweet time finding Paragon from the outlying continents they may have been banished to!
One of the legends of the wolves of lightning involves the origination of the pack itself, as a creation of air and fire! It is said that two wolves, long ago, found love that was forbidden, in quite an dramatic sort of way! A young wolf of the fire had lost his way and had stumbled into the Quartz Peaks, becoming quite lost and in a last ditch effort to gain aid, had flared up all the fire on his body in the hopes that somewolf would see him and at the very least chase him back home! However, this "flare" had leaped higher than he'd thought and singed the fur of an overflying wolf of the air, causing the sky princess to plummet down right onto him! Both wolves now being injured, and each blaming the other for the misfortune, they managed to, with the Feolan's help, find a cave to take solace in, and were forced to grudgingly nurse each other back to health. As such things do, out of this strife came a deep love and respect, and it was a fatal day when it was realized that the two needed to go their separate ways. It is said then that Toirniuil came to the two wolves and for a pledge to do his bidding, he would grant them with a new element, and the ability to keep their love intact. Quite obviously, they took him up on his offer, and from those two spawned the Anord. |
Abilities In General:
Lightning wolves, or the Anord, are charged with the elemental powers of the tempests, or storms. Also known as storm wolves, they can summon lightning to do their very bidding, meaning of course, lightning cannot harm them. In fact, being able to control lightning as such allows them to stay dry in a storm by sizzling the water right off of their pelts! They also have an affinity for storms such that they do not suffer effects such as being tossed about by winds or even suffering trouble seeing through pouring rain while in a storm. The pelts of the lightning wolves are electrically charged, meaning that in all climates and all times they carry a low current. This current flows about them as if an aura, causing others nearby to feel statically charged and possibly a bit prickly and uncomfortable while in their presence. The Anord can cause this current aura to grow or shrink slightly depending upon the circumstance, it can also be caused to glow or dim as if lightning itself is flowing over their pelts.
Charms:

Current: (Charm of the Tempest-born) The wolves can ride bolts of lightning and use them as another might use a mountain trail. They can summon these bolts as a pathway to carry them from place to place or perhaps a platform by which to overlook their domain. In this way, the wolves of lightning have a very efficient and effective mode of travel from territory to territory or even land mass to land mass as they move twice as fast as a normal wolf would by walking! Since they can summon these bolts at will, said bolts may manifest even when there is no storm to provide them!
Thunder: (Charm of the Tempest-born) The barks and howls of an Anord can be amplified many times over. When desired, they can vocalize with a strength equal to a thunderous clap that can be heard for miles. It can most definitely cause a slight, short term ring in one's ears if coming from an Alpha!
Strike: Charm of the Tempest-born) An Anord's claw and fang can imbue this lightning ferocity, causing them to be able to deal a shock when using them either against an opponent or even another object. In this way, they can cause a jolt to cause a minor stun to another being with their claw and fang, or cause a jolt against an object to attempt to do damage to it. The jolt increases in strength by rank, an Alpha could cause immobility to a lesser wolf for a moment by doing so, a Beta only a moment of shocking sluggishness, and an Omega an annoying feeling of pins and needles all over.
Squall: Charm of the Tempest-born) Storms are the domain of these wolves. They can summon rain, increase the strength of winds or cause a storm to suddenly clear. The power by which they can do this increases with the rank of the wolf. An Alpha may summon or dismiss even a full-on gale that lasts at least an hour, winds and rain that can mimic the real thing, following him or her about within an area up to six wolf lengths around! A Beta only a minor version, a heavy thunderstorm, that is just as annoying but less powerful and lasting only half as long and only three wolf lengths around said wolf. An Omega may simply summon dark clouds, a harsh rain with some accompanying winds and lasting only half as long as a Beta and only spanning a wolf length about himself.
Flash: (The Samhain Charm) The wolf can cause an area within two wolf lengths about them to flash - brighten for a moment then darken again - which can cause a stunning visual affect for others.
Bolt: (The Eclipsed Charm) A jolt of electricity can be driven through the ground in a particular direction away from the Anord, able to cause the paws of another to feel as if they've just been shocked, causing quite the irritating sensation! Coming from an Alpha, this bolt can strike out as far as six wolf lengths, a Beta half as much and an Omega only two wolf lengths out from his own body. Note that this bolt does not do damage to the earth, it is merely a current that passes through it.
Shapeshift: (Charm of the Shifter) The wolf can shift into one of these three lightning-related shapes including his own form; firefly (lightning bug), salamander, saltwater fish (no more than 24 inches/2 foot in length), falcon, crab (no larger than 2 feet / 24 inches) . When in this form, the wolf acts as one of those creatures would, and has the abilities that one of those creatures would have; which means of course, they lose access to the other charms and abilities of their own shape. They are able to communicate with other creatures of their same type, as well as still with their own pack. With others of their own pack, it is assumed that through body language and the connection with the elements that this is still possible. As well, the shifted wolf is never larger than their original form in their shifted form and any debilitations that they might suffer in one form are directly transferred to that same area on the other. No "natural healing" is given by the ability to shapeshift. Finally, a wolf has a choice on how their pelt colors appear in this form. They may retain normal coloration that they had while a wolf, or a wolf may choose to simply manifest as a normally colored animal of that type. The eyes of the wolf never change color, however, to symbolize the ties that remain with the element.
Rite of the Weather-Kin: (The Sacred Rite) (Q'insun (pronounced kin-sun)) An anord willingly loses the thunderous shout ability. Instead, the anord gains finer control of the weather: he or she becomes a focus that constantly brings with the wolf a stormy climate of his or her choosing that expands up to two wolf lengths about the wolf. This stormy climate will always include dark storm clouds overhead, but may or may not include rain or winds. These rain or winds are not the same force as that of the Squall Charm, as it is not as strong, but also has no duration. To perform this rite, he must shout in thunderous form until he loses his voice, his throat becoming raw and painful, unable to speak for the next 24 hour span. Then he shall submerse in water for one minute, after arising from which now gains finer control of the weather. |
Hierarchy: Alpha:The alpha of the Anord can be any one of the pack roles and always has final say over pack decisions.
Betas: The Anord have four beta slots, one for each pack role"
Omegas: Like the other packs, there will be omegas. Unlike the other "main" elemental packs, each role only has two Omega positions per each, with no extra for Sentinel and Ranger.
