Pack Base: The wolves of ice make their home within a deep cavern of the Amethyst Ridge, a very mountainous region. The cavern, to which only the Reioghan are allowed uninhibited access, is guarded very carefully, for within is their elemental focus, a shimmering sapphire that claims the heart of the main icy cavern. Currently the two Luminaries, or Alphas, are also the pack's founders, having had found the cavern quite by accident and activated the sapphire within, creating the ice element out of the elements of water and air.
Celestial & History:

The Reioghan that are on Paragon now have their origins in a loose pack of wolves that had gathered some many years ago in the year AE 3, Mid-Dorcha. These wolves had come from their other packs all over the lands of Paragon, seeking refuge from the strange elemental changes that were beginning to bloom in response to the strange being that had come to the lands. The wolves, being either afraid of the elemental changes or even perhaps unwilling to become of the element that their pack had been granted, had travelled from all over, finding themselves in the very depths of the Ridge, able to hopefully hide themselves from the world. They had decided to claim a particular set of caverns in the Ridge as their home, and as they began to mark their territory, a landslide trapped them, sealing them in darkness. The wolves knew that there had to be another way out, and thus searched, following a tunnel deeper in, knowing that there could not be only one way in or out. However, ultimately, due to a sudden activation of a magick unbeknownst to the wolves, they were frozen in time by a grand sapphire situated in the center of the cavern that this tunnel had led to. They did not find a way out of the cavern, not this day.
It was not that the wolves were frozen, however, they had been stored in a way, placed in a stasis wherein their bodies did not age nor weaken. One of the wolves, the wolfess that had unwittingly activated the sapphire, had been taken into the gem herself. Her name had been Eira, and she still refers to herself as that now, even though she has been reborn as the Celestial of Ice. Rather than becoming a frozen statue, like the rest of her kin, she was a soul frozen inside the gem until the magics were activated again. These magics could only be activated by two wolves, one of each element that made up the ice, that shared the same love for adventure and of one another. It is then, in the Dorcha of AE 51, that the two wolves, now the present Luminaries of the pack, Cerulean Serenity formerly of the air, and Kai formerly of the water, found the cavern, activating the gem once again.
The Celestial of the ice is a stunningly beautiful wolfess when she is seen to the wolves. Her former form is not known, but as she is seen she is almost like the ice itself, reflective, and difficult to look on with full gaze due to her radiance. She is an older looking, yet very strong wolfess, whom symbolizes the death of one life, and the beginning of another, much like the season of Dorcha itself. Eira is also looked on as the timeless Celestial, for her followers do not age, nor do they change with time's passage. A very strict Celestial as well, it is said that if a Reioghan were to attempt to leave the pack, spending more than 72 hours away, they would simply melt and become no more. |
Abilities In General:
The wolves of ice are something that the world of Paragon has never seen. For one, they are truly timeless, frozen in the time that they had come into contact with the elemental focus. Reoighans never age, as their bodies no longer move through time, staying in the same state forevermore. Wounds do not heal naturally, fur that is lost does not grow back, and they cannot reproduce. This does not mean they are impervious, however, as they can still be slain as a normal wolf is. When the pack is in need of new members, another wolf is simply broken free from the ice and "reactivated" into life, most generally with quite a bit of confusion as it has just awoken from a deep sleep and is now in a different era of time.
Reoighans also have a faint sparkle to their pelts, almost as if constantly being affected by a shimmer of sunlight. This serves as a soft glow which emanates from their fur even when in darkness. Their bodies also give off a continual cold aura, making it uncomfortable for others to be in their presence at times, however, it also aids them in walking over water, as the water freezes for a moment underneath their paws! This cold aura can be "turned down" or even "increased" by the Reioghan depending on which company they are in!
Charms:

Chill: (Charms of the Ice-born) A Reioghan can cause the temperature to plummet in their general area; water will freeze with enough exposure. They can cause the wind to become chill and even the air to bring a crisp bite. Also, they can cause the snow to fall around them even if it is in the middle of summer! (snow still melts as normal however once the Reioghan has left the area) This effect is stronger with the rank of the wolf; an Alpha may do this for up to six wolf lengths all about themselves, a Beta for three wolf lengths, and an Omega for only a single wolf length about themselves.
Shear: (Charms of the Ice-born) Since they are wolves that are borne from ice, they might also control ice, up to their own body weight, moving it about themselves, forming it into different shapes. This also includes snow. If more than one Reioghan works together, they might control up to the sum of all of their total weights.
Rime: (Charms of the Ice-born)With a sudden thought, the wolf may become frozen itself, the pelt coating with a layer of thick ice, cold spines erupting from their back and limbs. This provides a strong protection against most attacks. This does, however, make it difficult for them to be mobile, slowing them down to half their normal speed as they are essentially freezing their very selves.
Freeze: (Charms of the Ice-born)With a more focused use of their Chill, an Ice Wolf may bring shards of arctic crystal into existence, pulling the moisture from the air and freezing it into said shards. These shards may be used as a mild form of attack: stinging and slicing at an opponent, or they may be used as a tool with which to perform a task. The amount of ice they may bring into existence is equal to half their body weight.
Regeneration: (Charms of the Ice-born) Unlike the weaker power of the Uiscens, a Reoighan can completely heal wounds, including regeneration of fur or limbs if needed! However, they might only do this type of complete healing on another of their pack or themselves, and only within twenty four hours of receipt of the injury or loss of limb. With this, however, like the Uiscens, they do have the ability to soothe another, even outside of their pack, by freezing said wound, causing numbness to take away pain for a time so that the wolf might make it back to where it can be attended to by a pack member of their own pack.
Frost: (The Eclipsed Charm) With an exhale, a Reioghan can freeze a small area of water or slow down another being. By exhaling their arctic breath, they may cause another warmblooded being to slow down quite considerably for a few minutes, which is affected by the rank of the wolf. An Alpha may slow down a wolf sized being, a Beta half that size, and an Omega only the smaller prey animals.
Shapeshift: (Charm of the Shifter) The wolf can shift into one of these ice and snow related shapes including his own form; small white lupine (arctic fox), seal, white snow bird, ermine, wolverine. When in this form, the wolf acts as one of those creatures would, and has the abilities that one of those creatures would have; which means of course, they lose access to the other charms and abilities of their own shape. They are able to communicate with other creatures of their same type, as well as still with their own pack. With others of their own pack, it is assumed that through body language and the connection with the elements that this is still possible. As well, the shifted wolf is never larger than their original form in their shifted form and any debilitations that they might suffer in one form are directly transferred to that same area on the other. No "natural healing" is given by the ability to shapeshift. Finally, a wolf has a choice on how their pelt colors appear in this form. They may retain normal coloration that they had while a wolf, or a wolf may choose to simply manifest as a normally colored animal of that type. The eyes of the wolf never change color, however, to symbolize the ties that remain with the element.

Hierarchy: There are only ever 14 wolves in the ice wolf pack. 7 are male and 7 are female. Therefore, one of each sex is an Alpha, there is one of each sex for each Beta role in the pack, and two Omegas for each sex, one Sentinel and one Ranger. The wolves are "unfrozen" as they are needed to fill in pack spaces.
Joining As A Reioghan: A Reioghan, as their history originally "started" when they were frozen in the cavern, can only have a history from one of the four "main" packs of air, earth, fire, water OR they can have a history as one of the "displaced", otherwise known as a wolf that ran away from the elemental changes when they originally started. This must be specified in the Parents/Brief Background part of the application, your history as far as what pack you had come from, as well as how you got to this place where you now awaken from. All Reioghan, upon awakening, have the colors and charms of one of the ice, and do not have to learn them, unless this is wanted to be developed for your character. A Reioghan "just out of the ice", while confused and likely disoriented, immediately feels their new affinity and has access to their charms. As well, since the Reioghan are "unfrozen" to be awakened into the pack; the very first post by your activated character MUST be placed in the Scintillant Caverns, as you await to be "awakened". Your character will be broken from the ice by one of the Luminaries, and you then must complete the thread to the point of being shown the way out of the cavern before you can post in any other areas.
When you fill out the application for a character, there are two Character Development questions that must be answered in the tense as being in your "original" pack: As a pup, when did you first start to learn of your element's charms/abilities? AND What is the longest you have ever strayed away from your pack? The remainder of the Character Development questions can be answered as a Reioghan.
Finally, as the numbers of the Reioghan are limited, there are a few additional qualifications that one must provide to become a member of the pack. The three questions should be answered at the bottom of your Reioghan's application on the forum. These will be checked by the administration staff for each applicant:
- Why do you think you should be given a wolf of the ice? (No MORE than 500 words please!)
- Will this be an additional character or will you be giving up a character to make room for a wolf of the ice? (A wolf cannot displace to become an ice wolf. However, as a player you are allowed to "ditch" a character entirely to allow yourself room for another character, if necessary. This character, if "ditched" will be gone, never to be brought back again, however! If you are "ditching" a character, this also bypasses the post count requirement for a new character)
- How many hours do you dedicate to responding to threads on a weekly basis?
